The International Kimchi Festival in Gwangju is held to promote the region's most famous specialty, kimchi. Korea's only kimchi theme park - Kimchi Town Gwangju is the venue for a variety of kimchi-related activities and shows such as cooking classes, art galleries, kimchi markets, and more.
In addition, a Contribution Award will also be given to the winner of the professional kimchi making contest. Festival attendees can then bring home the kimchi jars they have made.
