VTHR connects universities and Korean companies to Can Tho
Can Tho City has over 120 businesses engaged in import-export activities, maintaining trade relations with more than 90 countries worldwide. Its key export products include processed seafood (such as shrimp), rice, fruits, vegetables, leather footwear, garments, handicrafts, and fine arts products. Major imports consist of machinery, consumer goods, production materials, petroleum products, fertilizers, chemicals, pharmaceutical ingredients, and agricultural supplies.
The city is actively promoting commercial and service development to establish itself as a commercial and service center within the Mekong Delta region. This initiative aims to connect Can Tho's market with other provinces in the Mekong Delta, major cities, key economic zones in the southern region, nationwide, and neighboring countries. It focuses on enhancing export strategies, expanding domestic markets alongside international integration, and fostering trade with diverse economic participants.
There is encouragement for business development in suburban areas linked with new residential planning and transportation development to stimulate sector growth and labor redistribution. Tourism development is prioritized, emphasizing eco-tourism, cultural exploration, conferences, and seminars within the city and nearby provinces. It seeks to expand interregional and international tourism, enhance infrastructure, diversify tourism products and services, and collaborate with neighboring provinces to develop satellite tourist destinations. Preservation and enhancement of historical and cultural heritage sites, upgrading existing tourist spots, and establishing new attractions are also central to these efforts.
Additionally, initiatives include organizing official tourism tours, regional sports competitions, developing domestic and international travel programs, and building a skilled workforce. Long-term tourism product strategies and promotional campaigns are integral parts of the city's plans.
